Publication released: Mobile telephony non-use among older people

The publisher group transcript has released a new book titled “Ageing and technology: Perspectives from the social sciences“. This volume, edited by Emma Domínguez-Rué and Linda Nierling, includes a chapter authored by Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol titled “An exploration of mobile telephony non-use among older people“. In this chapter, Mireia draws her analysis from qualitative interviews in five different cities and countries: Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain), Los Angeles (United States of America), Lima (Peru), Montevideo (Uruguay), and Toronto (Canada). Mireia interviewed 147 older people in total, who explained common as well as distinctive patterns of relationships with the mobile device. The chapter, as well as the book, are openly accessible at the publisher’s website.
