New book: “Decidim, a technopolitical network for participatory democracy,” a review of the history and a roadmap for the future

Decidim celebrates its 7th anniversary and publishes a book that traces the evolution of this transformative project. It is subtitled: “Philosophy, Practice and Autonomy of a Collective Platform in the Age of Digital Intelligence”.

From Barcelona to the world, the Decidim platform in these 7 years has expanded its reach to over 30 countries, 500 institutions and organizations, and involved more than 3 million participants. The book delves into the political, technopolitical, and technical aspects of Decidim, offering a comprehensive exploration of the principles, debates, and practices that have shaped the project.

It provides essential insights into how the platform works. Indeed, the project is much more than its technological features, the authors distinguish three general dimensions: the political, the technopolitical and the technical. The transformation is characterized by its open and collaborative nature, deploying a model for democratic, public technology development, in collaboration with communities based on free software.
