Sara Suárez-Gonzalo (CNSC-IN3) has been appointed member of the new Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Digital Rights of the Barcelona City Council.

Sara Suárez-Gonzalo, researcher of the CNSC-IN3 and teacher at the UOC’s Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences, has been appointed member of the new Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Digital Rights of the Barcelona City Council.

The Council was created on March 16th, 2023 through the publication in the Barcelona Municipal Gazette of the DECRET D’ALCALDIA S1/D/2023-167 and formally constituted in a plenary meeting on April 17th, 2023. The 15 members are independent experts from different research institutions and with previous experience in the field of new technologies, digital rights and artificial intelligence.

The main role of the Council is to advise the Barcelona City Council so that the purchase, design or use of digital systems based on massive data processing, algorithms and/or artificial intelligence techniques are ethical, fair and appropriate.
